The recent increase in the number of individuals confirmed to have COVID-19 and the rapid escalation of measures to prevent the spread of this disease have taken many by surprise. In particular, the suspension of communal worship locally may be particularly difficult for those individuals who regularly gather for services, whether in the Mission or in other churches and places of worship. The Alumni Association
First Friday Mass and Lunch give alumni the opportunity to attend noon Mass in the Mission Church followed by a friendly, informal lunch in the Bannan Alumni House. These lunches occur on the first Friday of the month from October through May.
Seaside Retreat, Apr. 16-18, 2021, will take place at the Villa Maria del Mar Retreat Center overlooking the ocean in Santa Cruz. Accommodations are private or shared rooms with a full bath, and time for walking on the beach will of course be available! Registration will open in mid-September.
Young Alumni Retreat, The March 13-15, 2020 retreat has been rescheduled. The new date is Sept. 25-27 and will take place at Hidden Villa Hostel in Los Altos Hills. Accommodations are dorm style with shared bathrooms. We will be preparing our own meals in the Hostel's kitchen. For more information about this retreat, visit our event calendar listing.
Both retreats provide an ecumenical weekend of reflecting, sharing and experiencing God’s love in community. While the retreat is grounded in the Jesuit, Catholic spirituality of SCU, they are open to those of all religious traditions and themed so that individuals of all backgrounds feel welcomed and comfortable.
There will be time for group activities, individual prayer, reflection, and exploring the beauty of the natural surroundings. Mass and confession will also be offered. All offerings are optional, and the weekend is designed to meet each person’s needs and desires.
